At the end of the session, the course participant should have a general understanding of the history of mini-screw usage, anatomical considerations in site selection for placement of TADS, the process of TAD placement, and how they can be implemented for anchorage in conjunction with some of the more common tooth movements utilized in orthodontic treatment.At the end of the session, the course participant should have a thorough knowledge and understanding of mini-screw design, materials used in the manufacturing of mini-screws, terminology that applies to mini-screw anatomy, characteristics of the ideal mini-screw, and the rationale behind the design of mini-screws currently on the market.

Introduction to TADS for the GP, First-time User, and Non-orthodontic Specialist provides an overview of the history of TADS and their evolution, a general approach to site selection and placement of TADS, and demonstrates a variety of clinical applications for their use in orthodontic treatment. Various types of tooth movements useful in the practice of orthodontics will be demonstrated with appropriate clinical photographs.This course will provides an in-depth review of the anatomy of the mini-screw, ideal characteristics of the mini-screw, how they differ among the various manufacturers, and an overview of some of the commercial product offerings available to the orthodontic specialist for use in their practices.
